Friday Foreshadowing

Last time I did a Friday Foreshadowing it was all bread recipes. Today, it's sweets!

Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars from Cookies & Cups: We've recently been rediscovering how wonderful snack pretzels are. Adding them to something sweet will most always be good, satisfying that delicious salty vs sweet desire.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars from Averie Cooks: Oh my! Peanut butter, chocolate, sugary sweetness all in an easy to bake bar form? Okay!

Mocha Frappuccino from Food.com: Really I think I marked this one in sheer desperation. Like everyone else I am done with winter and ready to move on. This makes me think of Starbucks' promotion of BOGO fraps they've done in May the past few years. I so hope they do it again this year {and that there isn't snow on the ground then!}

Yummy Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels from Life's Too Short to Skip Dessert: More pretzels, this time on their own with a sweet coating.
Triple Chocolate Cake with Crispy Bark Topping from An Oregon Cottage: I doubt I will be making this decadent cake anytime in the near future {but if someone else wants to bring me some, that'd be fine.} However, I couldn't resist marking it anyway because it simply looks so rich and pretty and the crispy element of the topping intrigues me.

Friday Foreshadowing

Bread, bread, bread... The majority of recipes that I found this week are bread. Nothing wrong with that! :)

Very Little Bother Oat Bread from Don't Waste the Crumbs: I've decided to slowly work on reducing {even more so} the amount of white flour we consume. While this recipe still has a fair amount it's also using oat flour, which would be new for us.

The best homemade dinner rolls from Roxasna's Home Baking: These look beautiful! I'm starting to think about Easter menu and these might be the roll. After all, there's nothing like trying a recipe for the first time at a time when you want everything to be perfect!
Soft, buttery, tender and warm, straight out of the oven, these are the best dinner rolls. Recipe from Roxanashomebaking.com
Pizzeria Style Pepperoni Pizza from Table for Two: My husband has pretty much taken over making our weekly pizzas and that's absolutely fine with me! We usually spend a fair amount of time each Friday supper analyzing how the pizza turned out so I'm always watching for new methods and recipes to try. This will be next!
Garlic Cheese Pull Apart Bread from Thirty Handmade Days: After adapting this oh so slightly to use homemade dough instead of frozen I think this would be wonderful. Butter, spices, cheese and bread all baked together...
Cheesy Garlic Bread with frozen bread dough
Coffee Cake Muffins from Fearless Homemaker: While I tend to shy away from the richer, sugary muffins for our breakfast muffins sometimes it's fun to have some that are more of a treat. These would be perfect for that. Add the streusel topping and we'll all be happy!

Chocolate Cranberry Energy Bites from My Blessed Life: Again, I'm always looking for good snack ideas. My kids love dried cranberries so I'm sure these would be a hit.

Poor Man's Stew from Happy in Dole Valley: This looks wonderful. It features mostly ingredients I always have on hand so once I pick up some lentils we will definitely try this for a Monday Soup Night.
Oatmeal Cinnamon Butterscotch Cookies from A Spicy Perspective: I have a muffin recipe we love that uses cinnamon chips but don't really use them in anything else {other than eating them plain!} These cookies look like a good place to try.

KFC's Coleslaw from Recipe Lion: I absolutely love KFC's coleslaw {and their biscuits} and have decided to make an effort of finding a recipe that is reminiscent of the wonderful creaminess. This will be the first attempt.

Quad Cookies from A Beautiful Ruckus: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Oreos, Cheesecake and Brownies all in one decadent cookie? That sounds like an absolute must try to me!

Friday Foreshadowing

~Taco Pizza from The Taste Tester: I was looking around for hints of how to successfully freeze pizza dough and happened upon this recipe for Taco Pizza. Even though we have many varieties, it's always fun to try something new.
Make a freezer ready pizza (there is more to it than you'd think!)-- cheaper than store-bought, better than DiGiorno, and they make an excellent gift for new moms :)
~Cinnamon Swirl Bread from Mel's Kitchen Cafe: One of my favorite things growing up was the sugar crusted, breaks apart in your hands because of all the swirls, cinnamon bread from the grocery store. Now I'm sure this recipe won't quite match it and honestly, that's okay, because I don't want to know how much sugar is in the grocery store version. This looks like it could be a good stand-in though.

~Candy Cookie Bars from Family, Food and Fun: A cookie bar topped with chocolate, peanuts and peanut butter? I must try this!
~Black Bean & Cheese Quesadillas from Tidy Mom: I've learned/observed recently that my husband is much more receptive to meatless meals than in the past, as long as there's lots of flavor and "stuff" to the meal. Because of that, I've been marking more meatless meals and looking forward to trying them instead of just letting them sit in my to-try folder.

~Crock Pot Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Over Rice from Clipping Money: I'm {again} trying to make more of an effort to use my crock pot more. When I saw this recipe I knew we should try it because we love Cheesy Broccoli Soup and this is similar, just a thicker.

Friday Foreshadowing

~Maple Honey Granola Bark from An Oregon Cottage: A different way of making granola that results in lots of those delicious clumps.
Maple Honey Granola Bark
~Chewy Coconut Bars from All Recipes: I've tended to avoid coconut recipes because my husband doesn't care for it. Recently I've been experimenting with toasting it first and then using it. So far, it seems to be helping {he thinks it's the texture more he doesn't like rather than the taste} so I've been looking at coconut recipes again.

~The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie with Variations from The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie: More so than the actual recipe what really caught my eye here was the explanation about why you should do things in a certain order and the troubleshooting for cookies. It was very interesting to read.
~Pizza Tot Casserole from Recipes Straight from the Kowboys Home: An interesting concept: tater tots on top of pizza toppings. This is definitely something that could be fun to play around with.
~5 Ingredient Strawberry Bread from CEO of Me: With only five ingredients and the ability to use whatever fruit you'd like {therefore have on hand} this bread has definite potential.

Friday Foreshadowing

~Healthy Whole Grain Waffles from Our Best Bites: I love our normal waffle recipe but I've been wanting to experiment with using flax seed meal so this would be a great recipe to start with.
Whole Grain Waffles
~Coconut Crispies from Jen's Favorite Cookies: These cookies look beautiful! I can almost taste them just by looking at them and the ingredients so if the real thing is anything like I'm imaging they are going to be wonderful!

~Cinnamon Toast Popcorn from Snixy Kitchen: In the last few months popcorn has become one of our go-to snacks so I'm always looking for fun ways to change it up a little bit. This definitely qualifies.

~Chewy Granola Energy Bars from Jo and Sue: Yet another addition to my list of granola bars to try. We've found some we like but I just haven't been completely sold yet. It's out there though! This one also features flax seed.
~Broccoli Cheddar Chicken Braid from Amazing Pinterest World: So pretty looking and so delicious sounding. To top it off, it sounds like a relatively easy dish to put together.

~Amazing Amish Cinnamon Bread Alternative from Redfly Creations: It has been a long time since I've had any Amish Friendship Bread but that doesn't mean I've forgotten how delicious it is! This just shot to the top of my list of quick breads to try.
~Thick & Chewy Granola Bars from Sweet Hersey Kisses: Like many people I'm still looking for the perfect granola bar for my family. This is just the latest recipe I've found and will try, hopefully will tasty results.

~Garlic Focaccia from Good Cheap Eats: I love bread. That's probably enough said right there. :)
~Veggie-Packed Minestrone Soup from Our Best Bites: I used to have what we thought was a delicious minestrone recipe. However, as my cooking skills improved we realized that the soup was pretty anemic. I haven't found a suitable replacement so we'll have to see if this soup is it.

Friday Foreshadowing

My selection is all over the place this week. Even so, it's quite balanced although it would make a interesting day of eating if I made them all at once. Nonetheless, by themselves each looks like a winner!

~Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix from $5 Dinners: This find was perfect timing because I'm almost out of the ranch dressing mix I bought and loved. The only problem is that store is 1 1/2 hours away by the cottage so I won't be there until summer. Hopefully this mix will take the place well.

~Cranberry Bliss Bars from Confections of a Readaholic Mom: I have actually never had the original from Starbucks but these bars look wonderful. I love white chocolate and cranberries so I can't imagine I'd be disappointed.
~8 Can Taco Soup from High Heels and Grills: I'm actually planning on putting this on the menu for next week. There will definitely be some adaptations and less canned stuff but at the root this soup sounds great.
~Snickerdoodle Bread from Creations by Kara: This looks like a fun new type of bread to try. Common enough and ingredients and it calls for cinnamon chips, something we've fallen in love with in the past year.

~Easy Peasy Overnight *Instant* Oatmeal from Happy in Dole Valley: While the way I make oatmeal each morning works well for us this looks good as well so I'm willing to give it a try.

Friday Foreshadowing

I can't believe I haven't shared recipes for over a month. {Okay, maybe I can but that's life right now.} Because of that I had many recipes to pick from so you know these five truly look good to me.

~Red Onion Pinwheels from Rachael Ray: I love bread and am always looking for new twists on it. I would use homemade pizza dough instead but the flavor combination on these sounds delicious.
Red Onion Pinwheels
~Coffee Cake Cupcakes from The Shiksa in the Kitchen: Since we have muffins for breakfast each morning it's always nice to try some different recipes. While this is a little sweeter than what we usually have an occasional treat is definitely okay!
~Brown Sugar Ginger Snowflakes from Woman's Day: I have actually never made sugar cookies {at least as far as I can remember} but think this might be a fun twist on them. I definitely want to do some sort of cut out cookie this year as I think my three year old might get a kick out of helping.

~Lasagna Style Pizza from Good Housekeeping: Like we have muffins every morning we have pizza every Friday. We have a decent collection of varieties right now but are always up for trying more, like this Lasagna one.

~Best Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix from Mel's Kitchen Cafe: I'm actually buying the ingredients for this today and can't wait to try it.
